Does the Scrum Master need Technical Skills or Tech Experience?

No. The Scrum Master does not need Technical Skills or Experience to perform the Scrum Master role effectively.

The Scrum Master is focused on helping create an effective, neutral, and positive work environment that fosters engagement, collective ownership, experimentation of ideas, adaptation to customer's changing needs and continuous learning and improvement.

The Scrum Master serves the Product Owner, the Scrum Team and the Organization by educating them on the correct application of the Scrum Framework, Coaching them to perform at their top potential and Facilitating their work + growth.

None of this requires Technical skills.

Having a little bit of understanding about the Domain / Product functioning helps the Scrum Master to understand the context of the conversations and offer the needed support to the Scrum Team. This level of understanding can be developed on the job by taking interest and a bit of effort.

Are there any pre-requisites to taking this CSM Workshop and earning the CSM Certification?

There are no pre-requisites to attending and earning your Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Certification. We've trained and certified fresh college graduates, professionals, experienced managers and CEOs of Large-Scale organizations.

Scrum Master role is not specific to IT industry and no Technical Skills are needed to perform this role.

You make the best judgement of your existing level of education, skills, experience if you'll be able to benefit from learning Scrum and the role of the Scrum Master.

Can two participants join the workshop from one (same) device?

To ensure you are able to actively participate in group activities, it is important that every participants logs in from different device.

If two participants login from a different device but from the same room, it could create an echo, hindering your ability to contribute.

In the past, family members attending the same workshop have chosen different rooms to ensure their active and independent participation. That ensured both qualified for the CSM Exam :)

Can I turn off the video camera to nurse my infant?

Absolutely, you can turn off your camera to attend to personal needs like nursing your infant. We understand the importance of these moments.

If you anticipate needing the camera off for more than 30 minutes during the session, please let your trainer know in advance.

Additionally, our 2-day workshop includes scheduled breaks where you can comfortably turn off your camera:

2 x 20-minute coffee breaks
1 x 45-minute lunch break
Short video segments (approximately 2-4 minutes each) where turning off your camera is also fine.

If you received the first email after taking the Scrum Quiz and stopped getting emails after successive attempts here are a couple of points that might help you better understand the process and benefit more effectively from the Scrum Quiz:

Email Frequency and System Limits: If you're taking the Scrum Quiz multiple times in a short period, our system might interpret this as unusual activity, akin to a spam attack. Consequently, it may temporarily halt sending score emails as a precaution. This is an automated process designed to maintain the integrity and security of the system.

Effective Learning Approach: Scoring on the Scrum Quiz below 74, or not meeting your expectations, is an opportunity for deeper learning. I recommend dedicating 2-3 hours to review the material we provided during our workshop. This reflective study will enhance your understanding of Scrum elements and associated rules. Once you feel more confident, feel free to retake the quiz. This approach is more likely to yield a genuine improvement in your understanding and score.

Quiz Purpose and Learning Strategy: Rapidly retaking the quiz might boost your score, however, it will not be as beneficial for your overall knowledge. While it's natural to want a higher score, remember that the quiz is a tool for self-evaluation of your understanding of the Scrum framework. Also, the questions on the Scrum Quiz differ from those you'll get in your certification exam. Therefore, an approach focused on learning, rather than score maximization, will be more advantageous in the long run.

Enhancing Email Deliverability: Also, ensure you are responding back to our emails that we've sent you so far. That signals to both your email provider and our system that the sender and recipient know each other. Such engagement can significantly increase the likelihood of our emails being correctly delivered to your inbox, rather than being mistakenly directed to your spam folder.

How can I get a receipt of my payment?

When you make payment online via Eventbrite.com or AgileForGrowth.com to register for any of our workshops, the receipt of your payment is emailed to your immediately and automatically.

If you paid via Zelle, you'll need to ask for a receipt at the time of the payment itself. Creating your specific receipt in this case is a manual step and you'll need to have a bit of patience to allow us to create this manual receipt and email you. Usually we may do that within 3 working days.

Can I get the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Certification only and not attend the Workshop?

To qualify for the CSM Certification it is essential (mandatory) to attend a Certified ScrumMaster Workshop with a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). A CST is approved by ScrumAlliance to offer such workshop and qulify the participants to appear for the CSM Exam. Once you appear for the CSM Exam and pass it, you earn the Certified ScrumMaster Certification right away.

I've not received the Scrum Quiz scores, how can I get my score?

The Scrum Quiz score emails are sent automatically (and immediately) via the system. If you don't see the email in your inbox,

You may want to check in your spam / bulk folder.
Try using a personal (gmail id) to take the test again. Ocassionally corporate emails, hotmail, yahoo may block our emails.
If you’ve not already, add our email ( info at agileforgrowth dot com) in your email contacts before taking the test to ensure our emails land in your inbox.

As mentioned in the Scrum Quiz Terms, we don't share the email manually. Hence, please avoid sending us email about it.

In the worst case, you may take the Scrum Quiz again (takes 8-10 minutes and also improves your confidence) using a different email id.

When is the CSM Exam conducted? Is it during the workshop?

After the workshop is over:

We'll recommend your name to the ScrumAlliance.org
You'll get an email from ScrumAlliance.org (within an hour after completing the workshop), usually sooner.
This email allows you to initiate your ScrumAlliance.org account.
Within this portal, you'll get an option to start your Exam.
You can start this CSM exam online any time that's suitable for you from your home/office.
You get 90 days after the workshop to appear for the CSM Exam.

The exam is online and not proctored. Webcam is not needed during the exam.
